When advised to use Steroids (oral or injections) please google and
inform yourself of the benefits and deleterious effects.

Glutathione is manufactured by every one of our trillions of cells, and the level of
Glutathione in our cells is predictive of how long we will live.
Glutathione also plays a crucial role in the  regulation of many body functions required to sustain life.
No other antioxidant is as imperative to overall health as Glutathione.

What is the Chikungunya Virus?

The GLOBAL spread of the Chikungunya virus suggests the disease is likely to be a
diagnostic challenge inthe years ahead

In most patients, the infection causes a fever, rash and severe joint pain in the hands, feet, knees, neck and elbows. The fever and rash typically subside in seven to 10 days, but symptoms of arthritis may persist for
12-15 months in up to 60 percent of patients. Some patients’ symptoms persist for a lifetime.

Laboratory tests that measured levels of specialized immune cells in the blood showed additional similarities between Chikungunya virus infection and rheumatoid arthritis, including elevated levels of specialized T cells, which suggest,
despite the persistence of symptoms, that the immune system has recognized and is fighting the virus.

Glutathione and Chikungunya

Glutathione or GSH is your body’s most important and prolific antioxidant, especially active in the liver.

Critical to keeping up strong immune function, the glutathione molecule may have even more specific implications for those suffering Chikungunya.

A study in 2012 found that cells showed a loss of intracellular GSH levels and an increased level of lipid peroxidation in the infected cells, and with increasing time of infection. A gradual decrease in the fold change of antioxidant enzymes and increased fold change of pro-inflammatory cytokines points to major oxidative-stress involvement in Chikungunya infection.

A Strong Immune System, healthy liver and immune system are your primary defence against any outside pathogens.
It’s easy to recommend keeping optimal levels of glutathione to maintain liver health, immune system function, and
anti-inflammatory response, for general health all the time.

For those at risk of contracting Chikungunya, it is critical in keeping inflammatory factors mitigated and antioxidant
profiles optimized, from this debilitating virus.

Studies have shown that Glutathione is food for the immune cells, boosting the strength of lymphocytes. B-cell lymphocytes identify the unwanted pathogen that the T-cells then attack. T-cells also shut down the immune response when the job is done.

Glutathione boosts white blood cell production to fight infection, particularly the T-cells, which are called lymphocytes. T-cells are at the core of our immunity, and tailor the body's immune response to pathogens, viral and bacterial infections or anything the cells recognize as being invasive. T-cells directly attack and destroy infectious agents and guard the body against attack. T-cells are produced in the bone marrow and mature in the thymus, but are present in the blood and lymph nodes.

Immune System - Natural Killer Cell

The results of a recent study, led by Dr. John P. Richie of Penn State University, and published in the European Journal of Nutrition showed that supplementation of glutathione doubled natural killer (NK) cell activity. NK cells are vital to immune health as they play a major role in the body’s rejection of damaged or infected ells. Additionally, NK cells play an important role in protecting the body from viral infections.
